Hi everyone!
*I previously wrote and scheduled this post, but since it refers to our pregnancy in a very upbeat way, I need to start out by saying that we received some (HOPEFULLY and PRAYERFULLY only potentially) extremely concerning news at our ultrasound on Monday. We know our high risk doctor has proven to be overly cautious at our growth scans and has thrown out pretty severe concerns before that turn out to be nothing and/or resolve themselves, but this one particularly has our minds reeling and spinning until we are able to get further clarification and test results. This one has completely come out of left field. Please please keep our sweet baby and its growth in your prayers.
Today's post is recapping our recent trip to my parents' house in Vernon Hills. We went there for our baby shower (coming in a later post!) but enjoyed some other family time as well. It was a super quick trip, but it sure was special being able to share in my pregnancy with everyone.
We got into town on Thursday, Shane went golfing with my dad and a few of my dad’s friends, and then we had dinner and grabbed ice cream with my parents. I’ve never been a huge sweets person (although I have always liked soft serve!), but this baby has given me a major sweet tooth.
On Friday, we went to Aunt Sue’s for a bit so we could see Grandma and so that Aunt Sue could see the dogs. Aunt Sue and Shane were already working hard on shower prep!
We hurried home on Friday afternoon to be back for Stephanie who had arrived in VH (somehow, it was her first time ever!) for the shower. My mom and her finished up errands together before we spent the rest of the day hanging out around the house, having my aunt come help for the shower, and chatting while doing shower prep.
Brian, Bridget, and Brecken eventually got into town too!
Stephanie and Abbott were hanging out with Cher- totally going to be Cher’s new phone background
Saturday was baby shower day!! After that, we headed to the Earhart’s for a little unofficial 1st birthday celebration for Brecken.
We love our nephew!
Everyone was soaking up the BIG ole bump!
Stephanie and I somehow won cornhole against Brian and Bridget- just saying!
So grateful for all this bestie continues to do for me and the time we get to share together! This was by far the longest we’ve ever gone without seeing each other- from my January 2022 wedding until now, wahh!
My parents’ house was chaotic in the best kind of way. This place was up for grabs!
On Sunday, we enjoyed breakfast and some family time at my parents’ before loading up all the shower gifts and heading back to Virginia.
Brecken favored me over Christmastime, but lately he’s been alllll about Grandpa. They’re so cute together!
Hahaha, I walked in from loading up the car to Brecken (who was supposedly being watched by Grandma) alone in a room while dumping out his bottle. Anything to not drink his milks!
Like I said, it was unusually (and unfortunately) short for the time we usually get to spend in Vernon Hills, but we were glad we were able to get there at all as we are on countdown to baby! We’re already looking forward until our next trip there (hopefully Thanksgiving?!) when we will get to spend more time with our favs.
Hope you have the best Wednesday!
