Life Lately- May 2023

It's Thursday, but more importantly- it's June 1!
I don't know how we got here, but I'm so glad we're here. I LOVE summer, but I am thinking I am especially going to love this summer of 2023. I remember looking ahead in my planner for so many months and thinking June/July seemed so very far away, but we somehow are here and entering these months. Woo hoo!
This May 2023 monthly recap is going to be pretty lame again because most of the exciting moments got their own posts- Mother's Day, our baby shower (post coming eventually!), trip to VH (post also coming eventually!) and trip to Louisiana.

However, here we go...

We started off May with celebrating Cash's 3rd birthday on May 1! This was his first birthday that Shane was actually here for (and not deployed or away for 7 weeks at training), so I showed Shane one of the ways in which we celebrate is by going to Chick-Fil-A for milkshakes and pup cups, haha. The worker at Chick-Fil-A said they don't do pup cups anymore, but Cash talked him into it for his special bday treat!
A very happy and spoiled 3 year old boy!
We also celebrated Brecken's 1st birthday on May 11 with a family FaceTime! He loved waving at us and clapping the entire time. Another happy and very loved boy!
May was a month of watching this bump grow and grow, thankfully! I know some people who say they could be pregnant every single day of their life, and I don't think I'm in that camp (I miss feeling fit, comfortable, and moving positions freely without worrying about its impact on the baby), but it is so special to feel and see the movements for sure. Enjoying this visible bump for the short time it’s here is definitely one of the positives!
One downside of the bump (I guess!) is it getting in the way when cooking/baking, haha. On this Saturday I was making banana bread and clearly was not used to my stomach being way out there!
We think Cash is FINALLY almost done blowing his winter coat this year- it was an extra long coat blowing season for all huskies with the up and down weather. Hopefully there's no more daily fur piles like this until next spring again!
I think I've mentioned that our friends from North Carolina are moving here to our base neighborhood in July. They finally got their address the other day and it turns out they're only going to be 10 houses away from us- right around the corner! I walked over there to snap a million pics of their house from all angles so that they could see the house they were being offered. It's the same interior as ours, but I'm so jealous of their front porch and non-bay window. (I think it makes it look bigger from the outside.)
Their house is on an hill so they also have a balcony and a basement which would be nice- but might be tough with the dogs getting out to the yard. They have no driveway basically but their garage/alley faces one of the parks (pretty much every street here has a courtyard and also a park), so I'm sure that's where we will be hanging out soon!

Literally it feels/looks like half of our big neighborhood is moving out now or this summer, so our friends could have ended up pretty much anywhere in our neighborhood, and it's funny that they are a 1 minute and 45 second walk away (Yes, I timed it on our walk over...and I'm slow moving these days!)
May was a month of being busy with work for me, but I always have my neighborhood watch dogs nearby and patrolling the area as I'm busy working. These two can be so ridiculous together, gotta love them.

A lame monthly recap? Perhaps! Nonetheless, I'm grateful for these small everyday moments that Shane and I will love to look back on and reminisce over.

That was May, but here's to June! Can't wait to see what this month brings as Shane and I soak up our last month as a family of 2 (and 2 pups, of course!) before the baby is here.
Hope you have an amazing Thursday!
