Now that I'm finally blog motivated again, I figured it was time to show off some rooms of our house that we moved into in December/January. Most of the rooms have 1 or 2 more final finishing touches I want to do, but some of the rooms are fully ready to share...for now.
Today we'll be starting with...the powder room! It's not the most glamorous space because of its purpose, of course, but it is one that has decor that is slightly different from the rest of our house and style. It was a fun one to put together.
The lighting isn't the best in that room (and of course I was taking these pics on a rainy day)... anddddddd I don't have the patience to edit/apply filters, so just go with me with some of these harsh pics.
As you step in our front door, this is what you would see.
I didn't think too much ahead of time for the decor for this room. I pretty quickly decided on a color scheme (navy blue and gold; I never go to gold or a dark blue like this.) I just found some pieces here and there as I was out at different stores and as things do, it somehow all came together.
Come on in!
Since we have limited house changes/decorating that we can do here in our house on base (if we paint, we would have to paint it back the way it was before we move again...which just sounds like a lot of work), I thought of using temporary peel-and-stick wallpaper in here to give the room a pop of something.
I wanted to do all the walls in here, but again, since we are only here temporarily, Shane talked me into (him) just doing an accent wall. When we are eventually in a permanent house, I'm going to go all out on all of the powder room walls with a busy, fun, colorful wallpaper!
I found this artwork on Etsy. I liked that it had both the colors we were using in this room. I've been finding lots of our house artwork on Etsy lately since I usually go in with a pretty specific vision of what I'm looking for.
(The gold and the silver combo of the built-in appliances vs. our decor kind of drives me crazy in here, but again- temporary house, we are making do!)
That completes room 1 of our house tour for our current Quantico house on base! Here's what you would see as you are walking out of this downstairs bathroom.
Until each and every one of you can come visit us, I hope this starts to give you the feeling like you were here at our house today. 😊 At least this "tour" allows you to enjoy our house without two crazy huskies getting all over you.
If you're interested in seeing what the bathrooms looked like in our previous house in North Carolina (they're nothing special but I love looking back on our other house), here are some posts I did on them previously:
We already are missing out first little North Carolina house! Shane said, and I think I agree, that house somehow felt more homey and less temporary than the one we are currently in. Maybe it has to do with the color of the walls? Or maybe it's the fact that it feels like the entire neighborhood here is moving (PCSing) this spring and summer. Moving trucks are EVERYWHERE and everyone is trying to give away or sell their stuff as they are cleaning out!
This powder room is most often (and most recently) featured in some of my impromptu, unofficial bump selfies. Here's 29 week pregnant Humpty Dumpty just about to take the dogs on a walk...
Anyways, hope you all have an awesome Wednesday. I plan on heading to yoga, doing some work, tutoring my student in NYC virtually, and then heading to the library in Alexandria tonight to work with 2 of my high schoolers (that are at an upper elementary reading level) for tutoring.
Thanks for popping in today!

Obsessed with the wallpaper!!!! ❤️SB
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute room!!!! You did such a great job with so many limitations - it's just perfect!! I love the color scheme and all of the details!! Can't wait to see the other rooms too!! 😍
ReplyDeleteLooks so good!! Where do you get the peel and stick wallpaper from?? I love the idea of an accent wall in a bathroom and I’m too scared to commit to actual paint or wallpaper! -SM
