March 2023 Book Roundup

Happy Friday! I'm feeling good getting all caught up on my main blogposts from the past few months over here.

Ironically, this week has been the busiest week I've had since moving to Virginia...hah, isn't that how it works though?! When I'm basically doing nothing, I have the hardest time getting myself to do any extra one small task, but when I'm already on the go-go-go constantly, what's adding one more thing to my list? My mindset is much better when I'm productive and busy, getting out and about! You too?

Well, I typically have more than a measly three books to share in my monthly roundups, but March was a month of reading a bunch of other books halfway and then putting them down. I hate doing that, but I just can't stand when I have a book that I somewhat dread reading! The three you see above are the ones that held my interest!

Stone Cold Fox by Rachel Koller Croft- ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (pictured next to the OG Stone Cold Fox)

  • This book was everywhere on bookstagram in the month of March!
  • It has amazing voice, word choice and characterization
  • It gives such a good perspective that you almost find yourself cheering for the antihero/manipulative psychopath
  • The ending didn't seem to hold up quite as well as the rest of the book did though

Paris: The Memoir by Paris Hilton- ⭐⭐⭐ (With Cash now practicing his Paris modeling look)

  • This one surprised me with its depth towards the middle when it took a turn with her boarding school abuse
  • However, it started out and ended as you would expect- superficial, arrogant, vapid
  • It held my attention because celebrity memoirs usually do, but this wasn't anything totally impressive
The Mother's Secret by Sally Hepworth- ⭐⭐⭐
  • I love Sally Hepworth's personality on Instagram!
  • This one happened to be on the shelf at the library, so even though it's an older book, I was in the mood to give it a go- I've really enjoyed all of her newer books
  • Typical of this author, it had lots of charm and lighthearted details from the get-go
  • I don't usually like to read about health/medical issues, but this one was enjoyable
  • I didn't love the teenager's perspective and those chapters- that felt more like a young adult book
  • This one is touching although it did seem somewhat unrealistic
Short and sweet for your Friday~ I aim to post 3x a week again next week (and hopefully during most weeks again) so come on back next week after you've had yourself a great weekend! Thanks for reading along with me!
