As we make our way into November, there's still one October post that I have to close the month out with...Life Lately!
This is my disclaimer from the get-go that this month's post is pretty bland though. I guess because it was otherwise a pretty full month that the truly "exciting" events got their own posts? South Carolina, Connecticut, Shane's birthday, and Halloween all got their own posts...so the rest of this is just the other everyday moments that I know I might miss and look back on, but I'm sure they won't be that exciting to you! Nonetheless, here's what's been going on with us this past October.
Shane spent 2-3 days almost every week out working in the field. It made for a pretty quiet and lonely month (during the weeks) for me. I'm so ready to start having friends nearby, activities, places to go and things to do with others…things to make the time throughout the week (surrounding my working hours) more enjoyable, that's for sure. It's very isolating with just me (and the pups) doing life mostly solo for days at a time... especially when work has somewhat slowed down again. This definitely isn't anywhere near my first rodeo with lots and lots of alone time....but, still. That's definitely on me to go put myself out there and to start over again though!
In between the other weekend craziness, we spent our weekends getting brunch and doing some errands together. Grocery shopping goes much, much slower when I have this one trailing along...anyone else have that "problem" with their husband too?
We are still anxiously awaiting having our yard so we also had to devote many of our weekend days (and some of my weekdays) to the dog park, but it's a nice excuse to get outside! They’ve done a dog park personality swap in Virginia…Cash seems to be more playful with other dogs at the park here compared to Caylor. Maybe it’s because whenever Caylor wrestles with other dogs, Cash chases her and pulls her (hard) by her tail to drag her by him…
The way these dogs look at Shane with such awe though…
I spent my month at some doctor appointments to hopefully get our next steps to having a baby figured out.
We spent one Saturday afternoon meeting Shane's family friend, Riley, and his two girls Austin and Adeline for lunch at Red Robin (my fav. gluten free burger!) while his wife had the day to herself to go shopping.
Right after Red Robin, Shane and I had to make a return to Marshalls and we somehow ended up spending 4 hours at the indoor mall that day! I can not tell you the last time I was in an actual mall or typical mall stores. It was fun walking around and looking at things and doing some shopping together though! It felt so nostalgic and old school, that's for sure. It reminded me of when my mom and I used to go shopping at the mall on weekend evenings sometimes. Based on the inventory, I hadn’t been missing out on much…all the praise for my online stores.
We enjoyed the pics Brian and Bridget sent over of sweet Brecken, as always. Brecken's Life Lately October post would be 1000x more exciting than mine. His social life rivals mine when mine was at the top of its game...professional hockey games, professional baseball games, Halloween movie marathons, road trips, that kid is always out and about! I love his smirk in this pic below.
