Happy almost Halloweekend!
As we are nearing Halloween, I thought it might be fun to share some pictures from just our past few Halloweens! Since Shane and I have been together, we unfortunately haven't been able to celebrate each and every year- due to him being gone for training for military, but we do have some fun memories from the past few years.
So curl up with some early Halloween candy and celebrate this fun holiday with us before you go off to celebrate in a super fun way this weekend! In all transparency, I'm anticipating that this weekend will be tough for us as we don't have our angel babies on the way (our first one would nearly be here) and this seems to be a kid-focused holiday, but we are planning on making the most of it, as we often do.
First up, last year Shane and I celebrated in Houston with Stephanie and her family! I shared more about this in my older blogpost recapping last Fall, but I thought it was worth sharing just a few pictures again. We were supposed to fly back to North Carolina the day before (after attending a wedding in Houston), but our flights got repeatedly canceled. I did have a super cute costume idea for me and Shane that I ended up returning without wearing 😩but we were grateful to spend the holiday with Stephanie and crew.
We loved being Camdens' trick or treating entourage!
You'll see in many pictures below that this plaid shirt is my go-to Halloween/Houston Astros in the playoffs or World Series shirt, hah!
The year before that, Shane was on the boat for a pre-deployment mockup, and I had to go pick up Caylor on Halloween day! I was planning on passing out candy from our NC house that night, but Cash was busy trying to murder Caylor and to say I was overwhelmed was an understatement (also my fire alarm went off and I had to text my firefighter neighbor to come over), so I was that grinch who had the porch lights off and all the lights in the house off so no one bothered me with their trick or treating!
To give you a little context, Shane and I very quickly and spontaneously decided a few days before that we wanted another dog for Cash. We reached out to a lady who had puppies, Shane knew he was going on the boat and wouldn't have communication for a few days, but we wanted a grey/girl husky puppy and Shane said if we could get this one in the ball pit and it turned out to be a girl, that was the one he absolutely wanted. Well, it turns out that this was in fact the girl puppy and therefore this was Caylor! I had to respond to the lady with a confirmed response on if we wanted the puppy before I could talk to Shane. I called my mom and was frantically talking it out with her. Since it was "the dog in the ball pit", we went for it! The lady needed me to pick her up on Halloween day, so I drove the 2 hours there and 2 hours back solo and got our precious Caylor girl.
More on that later in another eventual post, but it was a happy Halloween for me and Caylor...until we got back to the house...
...and Cash basically terrorized her all night. I had a whole plan of introducing them to each other and clearly it didn't go as planned, as evidenced from this picture.Cash was perfect with her the next morning, once Shane got him and he realized that the alpha of the house was okay with this, but that was a rough night until Shane made his presence known!
One of my favorite Halloween memories WITH Shane? The first year we were able to dress up together! We spent the time beforehand making our costumes together in my Houston apartment.
Shane helped to do his part! I was so impressed by him.
And only gave minimal goofiness when modeling the steps of the costume being complete!
How amazing did this homemade play-dough "ice cream" turn out? I was so happy with it!
Meanwhile, I was hard at work on my part of the costume too.
It was so exciting watching it all come together! This was by far the most effort I'd put into a Halloween costume in a long, long time.
Then it was time to try bits and pieces on...
...and finally get dressed on the big day of a Halloween party we were going to!
Ta-da!
We had fun celebrating with some church friends!
June Carter Cash decided to be the ice-cream man for a bit too I guess?!
This time of year always brought fun watch parties for the Houston Astros in the World Series and/or the playoffs leading up to that. Halloween and Astros go hand-in-hand this time of year...and that seems to be the case this current year too, as our Astros are heading to the World Series once again!
A few years before Shane, I had fun celebrating with Stephanie and friends too.
And wore one of my most creative (yet easy!) costumes to go along with some Pitch Perfect 2!
Thanks for joining on in this little walk down "memory lane"...at least from the past few years! I can't let myself go back any farther than that because it would be pictures overload, haha. I'm hoping this got you in the Halloween mood for this weekend and that you enjoy!
I'll be back here tomorrow morning with a Friday Favorites post!

I thank you for not going any farther back 🤣🤣 Forgot about your Pitch Perfect costume- soooo great! Are we going to get a recipe for that cute little treat at the end?! Was that a hint? - SB
ReplyDeleteHaha, no- the recipe is one I made back in my apt years ago, and I just thought it went with the theme to post it! I don't remember it being that good actually...but probably because I'm not a chocolate person!
