(Last!) Downtown Wilmington Date Night

Today's post is one last NC post as I'm sharing a bit about our last date night in downtown Wilmington, North Carolina! We made sure to get one final visit to Wilmington in on our last weekend in North Carolina before moving.

The thing I LOVE about reading other people's blogs is that it really allows for the opportunity to tell a story through the details. The pictures of the setting really set the tone and really allow me to feel the mood of a place. It truly takes me away to another place! I love it. Maybe this trip to downtown Wilmington will do the same for you?
We lived about 45 minutes from what you'll see below, and we loved getting there every few months or so to make the most of where God had placed us for our first duty station.

Downtown Wilmington is right on the water and most of the restaurants/things to do are lined up on the boardwalk. We started off our date night with some walks up and down this boardwalk!

We love all the historic buildings here.
This city is actually (and always has been) really big in the film industry. Dawson's Creek and One Tree Hill were filmed here, just to name a few.
We stopped for dinner at a new-to-us restaurant with southern food. It was so delicious! Any place with gluten-free buns that allows me to eat and feel like a normal person, I'm all for it!
We walked around the main street/roads of Wilmington that are a street or two over from the boardwalk.
It's such a quiet and quaint city!
At nighttime especially, there are definitely some keep-Austin-weird vibes with the type of people that gravitate to this city. When we did a ghost tour down here in the fall, we especially saw that come to light. 😉

We then did a boat tour on the intercoastal to cross that off our list!

We stopped for some gelato and then we headed back home to our pups! It was such a sweet summertime date night that allowed us to enjoy our area one last time before heading out.
We're looking forward to all the sightseeing and new experiences that Virginia/DC area has in store for us while always keeping coastal North Carolina in our memories of our newlywed life together!
