This is the third and FINAL installment of our honeymoon blogpost updates! It's been so fun reliving this amazing week through these recent posts. We hope you've enjoyed them too! I always love feeling like I'm a "tourist" visiting new places via other people's detailed vacation blogposts!
As most people do, you can see that we cleaned up each night for dinner. We tried all the restaurants at our resort (and didn't even make it to any of the restaurants at the other two Sandals resorts on St. Lucia) and even had some repeats because we loved one so much!
Ahh our favorite French dinner restaurant menu! I got the Langouste Thermidor more times than I should probably admit- lobster, mashed potatoes, veggies, and cream...OH MY GOSH that doesn't do it justice.
I also ended every night with creme brulee- hah! I didn't like the top/sugary part that makes it what it is, but I loved the underneath part that was more like vanilla pudding...so yummy. I dream of this honeymoon dessert still!
We also had to try out a variety of apps- including these oysters.
Okay so our last excursion was our VERY favorite excursion! Sandals got us on a bus with a very entertaining guide and took us through town to...
...a place with ziplining, hiking, and bike riding. The rest of the people on our trip chose the other activities but Shane and I chose bike riding through the rainforest! We were the only ones, so we got an AMAZING guide all to ourselves for the day!
We absolutely loved being in an actual rainforest.
Ahh, our guide Marvin! This was one of the coolest experiences of our lives. We had the multiple hours with just us and him, and he was so genuine and personable. That was my first time going to another country and spending a lot of time with a native. I asked him a billion random questions and learned so much about just the culture and his everyday life there. His favorite food is Macaroni and Cheese believe or it not haha. He considers America the "promiseland" and ultimate goals for their country.
We are Instagram friends and whenever Marvin does make it to the US for a visit for his first time, he has a place to stay with us! It was such a special connection we all made. Many of them have so little in their country, but they are so appreciative of just kicking a soccer ball around in an empty field. Our lives are so different but we were able to find so much common ground.
So we know Marvin was the best tour guide and St. Lucian ever, but Shane and I had some incredible times on our bike ride through the rainforest with each other's company too!
This is definitely a highlight of our lifetime!
Banana trees and cocoa plants were all around!
Bike riding has been our thing since we started dating, and we try to do it at most locations we visit! It was extra special to get it do it in St. Lucia on our honeymoon.
Marvin took us off the allotted trail and gave us an extra ride- to this waterfall where locals hang out.
Marvin was all for setting up photoshoots for us, hah! I was primarily focused on keeping my contacts from sliding out with all of the waterfall water pouring down on us!
These vines were incredibly thick and strong.
I mean, I remember learning about the rainforest when I was in 3rd grade (back when we were allowed to do units) and decorating our whole classroom that way. Since Tim and I always played school at home, we then also turned my bedroom aka "our classroom" into a rainforest too. I remember learning about plants and animals that thrive in the rainforest, and it was cool to see some of this beauty for myself now.
On the way home, our bus tour guide stopped for a photo opp for us all. Incredible views!
After dinner and listening to live music outside on our very last night, we went to our resort's theater for a Disney songs performance. These locals had amazing talent! Haha, it was us and all the older people celebrating their multi-years anniversaries. We had to take advantage of all that Sandals had to offer though!
On our very last morning, we said goodbye to our spa girl, Vanessa. We saw her multiple times a day and she always enjoyed chatting with us!
Back in North Carolina, my mom was still dogsitting and she saw snow in North Carolina before we ever did!
She was doing her multiple dog walks a day in my winter coat (that I don't think I ever had to use once in North Carolina) while we were in a tropical paradise. Sorry, Cher!
She stayed for a day or two once we got back so we could visit with her. Cash and Caylor were used to being needy to her and right by her side!
And poor Cash Cash was laying on her guest bed, looking for her out the window when she left. :( We are grateful she watched these handful pups of ours so we could FULLY relax and enjoy our honeymoon!
Ahh, take me back! What an incredible week with my husband. We are so grateful that our honeymoon more than delivered, despite all the other factors. What a once in a lifetime trip!
Hoping you guys have the best weekend! I'll be back here next week with something OTHER than honeymoon content, don't worry! 😉
