Well, without our house and belongings, there's not much day-to-day life to show on the blog, so I figured now is as good of a time as any to catch up on all the wedding events! I won't always bombard you with back-to-back posts, but I will sprinkle in wedding event posts here and there so I can get them all shared and saved here on my own digital scrapbook!
I shared our honeymoon previously, and I've also shared our proposal and our Farewell Dinner for the evening after our wedding months ago. Next up: my 3 wedding showers I was blessed to have! Clearly I’m working in a bit of a scrambled order… but such is the overall vibes of our wedding, I feel like!
It's so crazy looking back at these pictures because with Covid postponements, this wedding was a 3 year process, and this first shower happened way back when in January 2020. Yikes!
This first shower was with my mom's side of the family in her hometown of Orion, IL. My Aunt Kathi hosted it in the basement of her house.
My mom and I were excited to celebrate with everyone!
My mom's half-sister, my Aunt Cindy, my Aunt Diane, and Aunt Kathi all worked together to plan this. I am so appreciative!
It was so nice to have most of the girls from this side of the family there to celebrate.
They went with our wedding colors of blush pink and beige.
How cute is this floral arrangement my Aunt Diane made?! We still use it as decor in our guest room.
This was a linens shower, so we were gifted with bedsheets, towels, etc. They tried to gift things I could take back with me on the plane to TX. Loved it!
Ooh, I love the snow in the background!
Aunt Diane planned some fun games for us!
It was fun to open up the gifts...our first wedding gifts we received and when all the excitement was just starting!
Respectfully, these pictures below are extra special because Kara, my half-cousin who is the blonde all the way on the right of these pictures, passed away a few months ago after a recurring battle with cancer. She was always the absolute brightest light at any family event. She was bubbly, outgoing, friendly, genuine, and always put family first. Her daughter, Tori, is the one on the couch next to me and my heart goes out to her and all of the Matzen family still.
As always, my cousin Crystal made such an effort to be there!
The guys were hanging out upstairs as we "showered" downstairs. Had to snap a selfie with my dad!
And then we all joined the guys upstairs for a laid back family evening for the rest of the night. Love this pic- the daughters sitting on their dads' laps, hah!
We spent the night at Aunt Kathi's, woke up to play some games with Nolan, Colin, and Rylan...
And then had a snowy trip back from the countryside of Orion to VH where I then flew back to TX! I always envisioned myself as a spring/summer bride, and many of you know that was the original plan pre-Covid, but these wintry scenes give this bridal shower an extra cozy feeling.
Thanks to all who hosted and celebrated this first bridal shower! Hope the rest of you have an amazing Thursday!
