Our Rose Bud House

Well, this week is going to be the week of sharing our current North Carolina home and area of the past 2 years before we leave it to PCS (permanent change of station, military move) to Virginia!

You'll be seeing a little overview of our first home together, our neighborhood that we love, our town (meh) and the beach/boardwalk/tourist area. Hopefully it will feel like your own little trip to the North Carolina coast.

Starting with...our Rose Bud house (named for the street we live on)...with a Cash in the front doorway! This post is a bit lengthier than normal, so grab your coffee, sit back, and enjoy your trip to Rose Bud Lane.

Shane was mowing the grass and working in the garage when I snapped these pics, so you get a garage open view. It takes away some of our curb appeal, oops!

We rented this house- due to moving to it before I saw the area and us knowing that we would only be here for a few years. It was a perfect starter house for us. We have lots of memories in it- namely it being our first house as newlyweds and the house we brought puppy Cash and puppy Caylor home to!

One of our favorite parts of the house was the classic NC front porch. So many houses in the area have these front porches, complete with adorable rocking chairs.

If you were rocking away on one of our rocking chairs, this is what your view would be...

My car is typically always in the garage, but again- Shane was doing yardwork and needed the garage to do some work!

I snapped these interior pics below pretty quickly just to give you an overall idea. A lot of our decor is missing (we just got it from Shane's mom who had it after our wedding and we decided to keep it boxed up until the move) or things are kind of tossed around due to moving soon, but you'll get the overall idea of what it would feel like to step inside our house. A downfall to living so far away from everyone- we never get to host everyone in our home.

Enjoy this overview, but you'll get an up close and personal tour of these rooms in our new house 😉

If you've followed along on many of my other blogposts, you've probably seen snippets of our house here and there, but here it is in all its glory!

As you step inside our house, this is what you'd see.

If you kept continuing straight through our living room, you'd enter the dinette and kitchen.

I really wanted a white kitchen, so I'm glad we got that in this house!

If you came back to the main area of the house, you can then go to the right side of the house to our master bedroom.

That door on the left leads to our hall closet and the door on the right leads to the garage.

Our hall closet was where we kept jackets of course, but we also had some cleaning supplies, my gym bag, our beach bag, another frequently used tote, some frequently used shoes, and board games up top.

Then you'd step into our master bedroom.

Shane chose the decor for his dresser and for over his dresser...

We had a pretty good sized walk-in master closet in our bedroom. That's where Shane kept his clothes and I kept some of mine!

When walking out of our master bedroom, this would be your view...

You could cross the main part of the house over to the other side- which houses our office, laundry, guest bathroom, and guest room.

If you turn right from the doorway, you'd go into our office. The decor is a bit silly here because half is my office and half is Shane's! We made it work.

These ugly curtains came with the house so we kept them up...I'm looking forward to picking out new curtains in our new house!

This bookshelf is missing a lot of frames that were used for our wedding. It looks like it has somehow become Shane's military shrine since then. 🤔

My sewing machine and craft supplies are on those shelves under Shane's college football jersey.

That closed door lives to a big walk-in closet. This housed some office supplies, some of Shane's military gear, my dresses and skirts, and a lot of big tupperware containers of my shoes!

Leaving our office, you'd then be in this hallway.

Our little wedding(s) invitation(s) and decor part of the wall...

If you walked in the other direction down this hallway, you'd pass our guest bathroom and head into the guest room.

Ignore the moving and military junk from Shane's recent training. Our guest room is the most temporary/in transition/needs the most work space. Especially with us moving soon, we've kind of just let a few things pile up. I was too lazy to even deal with it for these pics haha.

Including my little "home gym" area...

This is our sheets, suitcases, purse, and my sweatshirt/sweater closet...
That's a wrap on the inside of our Rose Bud house!

Here's what our backyard area is like...we have been blessed with a great backyard situation in this house, making for some happy puppies! I think we'll be downsizing our backyard in our next house unfortunately.

I have to laugh at the yard looking free of toys besides this small pile by the table. Cash and Caylor have a basket of probably 50 toys inside (I know, I know...you try to work from home and be at home 24/7 with two huskies!) and Cash is constantly bringing them outside with him, one at a time, on each trip outside. He likes to lay them out around where he lays in the yard. Since Shane just mowed, the yard is actually free of toys...for a few minutes.

As you've seen in many other blogposts, I spent many an hour reading out here...and Cash and Caylor have certainly spent many, many hours out here.

And probably the best addition to the entire house, that you bet your bottom dollar will be moving with us...our doggy door.

A few days a week, we open up this back gate and let the puppies run free in this nice area. There are a bunch of these field areas in our neighborhood, but it's so nice to have this one literally a step out of our backyard.

On the other side of the small creek and those trees, the field continues and is just as big as our side. It's hard to take pics of this area, and I'm sure not a pro photographer, but it gives them plenty of room to absolutely TAKE OFF and sprint around!

You can see all the sand amidst the grass out here. Being so close to the ocean, our backyard is part dirt, part sand...ugh, it made for the WORST tracking of dirt/sand into our house constantly!

Back to the front of the house, here's a peek at our garage (aka Shane's garage) too. This is where we have some seasonal decor and some of my safekeeping items in bins, but it's primarily his outdoor, camping, hunting, auto and military gear. Basically, if the world ended today, we could survive on Shane's garage gear.

He is going to have a heart attack when he sees these pictures being posted of his garage. It's a bit out of sorts with him currently working on refinishing a kitchen table and with things tossed about for the move. He is obsessive about everything in his garage being in its own particular place. He cleans and organizes the garage all the time.

If you missed some previous posts and/or noticed some rooms were skipped over in this little home tour, here are posts I previously did on our:

That should complete your tour of our home! We're eager for our new house, but it was sure fun to start out our lives together in this one.

Here's to you hopefully being able to visit our next home! I promise we'll put more attention towards the guest house in our next home 😉
