St. Patrick's Day

Happy St. Patrick's Day yesterday! We hope your day was great!

Shane and I like to think that we "holiday" well and usually make these days stand out and special in some way, but I think we kind of fail at St. Patrick's Day. Maybe it will change once we eventually have kids?

We love to decorate for holidays, and we have a few around the house for this holiday (like these reversible placemats my mom and I made), but way less than we do for other holidays. Whenever I see decor to buy for this holiday, it just doesn't seem that cute to me. I think that's part of the problem, no?

I don't know, I don't remember ever celebrating it in an extravagant way besides having "leprechauns" destroy our classroom at school when I was kid, and therefore being terrified of this holiday for a few years. We did celebrate it in a big way at Michigan State. I mean, what college kid doesn't? Us Spartans had the extra excuse of "Go Green" and going big for this holiday too though.

I did make sure to throw on my leopard print shamrock shirt though!

I did make Shane's Papa's Cabbage Casserole for dinner (which we love!) to go along with the theme of the holiday. My mom always makes my dad Corned Beef and Cabbage for this holiday, so I guess this is now our version!

Otherwise it was a usual day of working from home, working out, walking the dogs, taking them to the beach, and squeezing in some reading at night!

I did make some time right before Shane got home from work to read on the back patio for the first time of the season! It’s definitely been warm enough earlier, but I’ve been swamped with work. This is where I spent the majority of my time during deployment this time last year, so it gives me mixed feelings to look at a picture like this.

Do you do anything special for this holiday that we should start doing? I would love to know your traditions!
