Happy end of March! I swear these months have FLOWN by more than usual lately. I can barely keep up! Whenever I write down the date for work, I find myself getting surprised at what the month and date is.
I told Shane that I think this has worsened for me since I've been working from home and absolutely loving those jobs! When I was working in public schools, I was counting down until the weekend, counting down until Spring Break, Summer, Winter Break, etc. but now weekdays are almost just as great as weekends, and I don't find myself counting down to a certain break in time (maybe because I don't really get these formal breaks anymore too!). I think that has totally helped time to just speed on by, simply because it's the opposite of what I want.
Here's a recap of this past month. Looking back through pictures, it definitely doesn't look too eventful to an outsider's eye, but I guess that's our life in this life stage and season/location.
With the weather warming up even more, we've been loving lots of beach evenings to let Cash and Cay Cay get their energy out.
On one of those evenings, we found a dead jellyfish. It looked much cooler and more intricate in person.
Weather warming up also means Shane grilling more dinners for us! I love a good steak dinner lately, and Shane makes them the absolute best. Eek, our yard still needs spring to fully hit.
We got all our wedding pictures back early in the month, and I must get around to printing them, sharing them, selecting some for our wedding album from the photographer, and scrapbooking them!
Every weekend of this month (except for one!) we've gotten together with our two different couples of friends for homemade apps, dinners, desserts, and even some games.
We enjoyed beautiful weather one Saturday at Blake and Rebecca's and in their massive backyard that is easily 8x bigger than our (pretty big sized) backyard.
These 4 dogs go to town together in that huge yard!
Our landlords raised our rent for this upcoming year (we'll be staying in this house for one more year), so Shane convinced them to make up for that by getting us a storm door. They had us go to Lowe's, pick one out, install it, and then they compensated us for it!
Shane spent one Friday night super late working on it.
We LOVE it! I've always been obsessed with natural light and with so much time spent at home (working all day and such!), this has totally brightened up the space. The one we picked out has a top half that can slide down to become a screen, as well.
We've grabbed dinner by the beach at our favorite outdoor taco place a few times. The island is starting to build up to getting super crowded for the season again.

Meanwhile, my dad sends me pictures of snow back home! It's hard to believe they have snow (I adore snow in November, December, and January but this time of year is when I definitely do NOT miss it.) It's smelling like spring by us, we have flowers blooming and windows open almost constantly again...and they still have this!

Shane and I had a Saturday evening of playing this Bananagrams game our friends told us about. We ordered pizza, had Frank Sinatra playing, later watched the Lucy/Desi documentary and watched me win this game! Such old souls. After a day full of brunch, errands, and dog park in Wilmington, it was the uneventful weekend night we needed.
Earlier in the month, we celebrated Rebecca and Blake getting (re)baptized at our church! Like me, Blake was sprinkled in a Lutheran church as a baby and Rebecca was also too young to realize her baptism decision back when she was first baptized. I cried watching them!
We've had some rainy days...especially when Shane is rucking and preparing for MARSOC.
I think this is one of the few times in Cash and Caylor's existence that it rained for the ENTIRE day, like to the point where we couldn't even sneak in a 10 min walk. They handled it so well that they got rewarded with a car ride for new bones and then lots of activity the next day! #spoiledI think we've finally finished writing all of your wedding thank you notes! We are so grateful for the generous gifts that many of our guests brought/sent.
These two crazies have been up to their usual antics!
Cash is OBSESSED with socks. Anyone else's dog? He loves to grab them and then just guard it/lay by it all day. Caylor then tries to take them from him, and it becomes a game/fight. Lately, this happened over a swimsuit strap rather than a sock. Literally they spent the entire day trying to guard it and keep it from each other, taking it with them wherever they go.
Cash and his crooked ear...whenever anything is of discomfort to him, his right ear goes super crooked. They've both had ear infections lately (Caylor is just super prone to them and Cash snuck into the rain a few times), so after Shane and I hold him down so I can clean his ear out, Mr. Dramatic has to walk around like this all night.
Shane and I spent two nights watching Below Deck for the first time- and I guess we actually watched the Below Deck Sailing Yacht version!
My Houston hairstylist and friend from church, as well as her husband Rhett, who Shane and I both know well from our Houston church, were on this show because of her client Erica Rose (formerly of The Bachelor fame).
Janelle was SO herself on the show and she was cracking us up. She posted a ton about the drama from the show (and how her and her sane husband found themselves at the center of it), as well as sharing lots of memes and news articles about them/their actins on it. She also released footage and text threads to prove their honesty in all the drama. So entertaining, for sure! Get at me if you need the inside scoop!
Lots of reading after dinner (with my post-shower robe on, my latest obsession this past year) with this one cuddled by my side...Like always, March has been full of cooking! I repeat a handful of recipes each month, but the majority of the nights I love to try out new recipes from all my cookbooks. This was Shrimp Scampi Lasagna- yum!
Hope your March has been wonderful! Here's to an even happier April!
