Hey! It's my first Friday Delights! This is a spin off of a lot of bloggers who do Friday Favorites AND What's Up Wednesday. I kind of condensed the two. I love love love checking out random recent favorite things of my bloggers most Fridays and also the details of their lives on What's Up Wednesdays, so I thought I'd do something somewhat similar.
Anyways, here are some things that have given me a burst of delightfulness lately!
Watching-
Okay, I very rarely watch anything besides The Bachelor/Bachelorette (although I missed the past 2 seasons). Whenever I'm working or alone at home for awhile, I put on favorite or seasonal movies and shows as primarily background, but Shane and I got super into a show lately, and I also got into a show on my own- that Shane pops in and watches from time to time. What are these shows that sucked me/us in? Reality tv, of course.
Selling Sunset
Oh my gosh, I don't know if this is show is going to open up a whole can of worms for me with similar shows, but I can not get enough of these people! So far, early in Season 2, I adore Maya and Mary (terrible decision with Romain though). Christine is the absolute worst but she cracks me up.
Love is Blind: Season 2
Shane and I cuddled up after dinner to watch this and we could not stop. It kept us up way later than normal! I watched season 1 during early quarantine, but this season was just that much better. So many outrageous thoughts to text my friends after watching! Shane is such a good sport with these shows because he's just glad to have me watching something with him (and not reading in the same room as he watches) for once. What do we need to watch next that is somewhat similar to these guilty pleasures?
Wearing-
Getting dressed for the day is always tough for me because I have to dress presentable enough for virtual meetings and to feel good about myself, but I also need to dress so that I can walk the dogs in this heat. I found these and they are my new favs on repeat! Elastic and comfortable like workout shorts, but they appear as normal jean shorts.
I can cover it up for even more of a "normal" jean shorts look as seen above- or front tuck and leave the tie out and visible for more of that casual "jogger" look.
Reading-
Give me outdoor reading with all the books by the best of the best authors that are released this time of year! I reviewed many of them on my June Book Roundup that was posted last month, and you know my July Book Roundup will be coming at the end of the month!
Eating/Drinking-
I've been on a big cereal kick in the morning lately. Again, addictive food personality. I have always loved (and can still have because they're gluten-free) Rice Krispies, Rice Chex, plain Cheerios, and Cornflakes. Ah how I miss bran cereal though! What cereal am I missing out on?
I just tried this creamer for the first time and am loving it! It doesn't taste much like Rice Krispies, but I find myself drinking my coffee faster with this creamer than with any other.
Cozy at Home-
I was on a big pajama kick a few years ago, and now I'm on one again. I guess I'm old because I get so excited to put on cute pajamas at nighttime. I ordered a few lately...
And another post is coming eventually of all of my latest fav pajamas! There are far too many, but I guess in my old age I take the money I used to spend on clothes and use that on cute pajamas instead!
Seasonal-
To roll in the summer season, we got these pillows to mix it up on our front porch. I love love love them!
For 4th of July, we got these pillows and towels to celebrate inside of our house. I also love love love them! I get so excited for cute seasonal things like this. HOW cute!
Seasonal Mood Feeling-
I get so calm when I look at certain images that are soothing to me. I get really into seasonal ones that just perfectly depict the mood, tone, and feeling of that time of year. Heather Stillufsen is my favorite artist, and I have some of her pictures in our bedroom and my office. Here are some of her summery ones that just align with my summertime, ocean mood lately!
Praying-
I will admit, my Bible Study has majorly slacked since moving to North Carolina...AND IT SHOWS in my day to day life/anxiety/emotions. I was so great about doing it daily in Houston, but it seems I get on a roll here, and then something stops it...and I have a hard time getting back on track.
This past few weeks, I really started getting back on track with my Bible Study/quiet time for real for real, and I'm already reaping the benefits. I'm continuing with one I've started off and on a few times- a devo by Lisa Harper. I saw Lisa Harper speak at a women's conference with my church at the Mariott in The Woodlands, TX, and I've been a fan ever since.
Her daily devos in here are short and sweet, but they hit home and are a good starting place for my prayers and mindset for that day.
Out on the Town-
Well, getting ready to go out "on the town" around here doesn't really happen since it's a beach/tourist/vacation town with super casual and laid back vibes, but here are some of my favs. for a slightly more laid back heading out to do errands or whatever vibe!
I'm all into colors in the summer and I can't get enough of wearing these.
This has been my latest "fanny" as Shane and I refer to it. The fanny pack trend can never end because they are the most convenient things ever! I never want to go back.
Being active-
Anyone who knows me knows I was addicted (admittedly unhealthily) to working out for years after college. My hip surgeries slowed me down for years, and since moving here, I've been going to my gym sporadically in phases. I get into it for a few weeks, then my hip starts to hurt or I go out of town and I kind of lose momentum. It's hard to have the motivation when I'm just in an overall meh and lazy state of mind here in NC. It's also hard when I don't have the seemingly hundreds of friendships and friendly faces that I had at my previous gym!
I'm definitely active by walking the dogs every single day, but I'm excited to get into a new routine and swing of things again in Virgina. However, my work started a steps challenge through the end of August, so that encouraged me to put on my FitBit (that I usually just put on for when I'm walking the dogs) throughout the day, and that has already encouraged me (for a few days!) to just incorporate so much more exercise and movement into my day.
With my Hashimoto's, I really only should be doing like 20 minutes of low impact exercise a day, but just incorporating more activity and movement throughout the day (as opposed to solely focusing on big workouts) has me feeling so much better again lately.
Beauty-
I randomly got inspired to clean out and organize my nail polish. I love Sally Hansen's Gel with the added top coat the best! They seem to last the longest and chip the least.
Working On-
I've been working on job applications. With one of my main jobs ending (due to it being a contract on a project and we are waiting for our client to potentially sign another contract) and my other main job having minimal hours (due to budgeting), I'm needing something more. I'm ideally looking for remote full-time or like before, a few part-time positions, and not necessarily wanting to teach, but I did just interview for a part-time in person reading interventionist job in Virginia and am moving to the 2nd interview. I'll keep you posted! I'm trying to take advantage of doors that are opening for me even if it's not my ideal long-term situation.
Looking Forward To Next Month-
I'm looking forward to HOPEFULLY getting into our house in Virginia! Here are some pictures of the neighborhoods we'll be in. So super cute!
Reminiscing-
Prepping for this move has me thinking of my last move from Houston (WAHHHH I miss it!!!) to here...
And how Shane and I survived for 2 weeks in this house with minimal/no furniture so we can survive doing it again. Although we do have the 2 puppies now that we didn't have before, and therein is where all of my anxiety with this move lies.
Shane keeps talking up fall in Virginia and how we'll both actually have "seasons" again for the first time in many years, so it's making me think of this super yummy fall recipe I made last year. The recipe will be coming this fall!
I'm also reminiscing over my Beuerle family, gah how I miss them and doing every day life with them so much.
My last thing I'm reminiscing over? How Shane was deployed this time last year and me, Cash, and Caylor were hanging on for dear life.
That's a wrap on my first Friday Delights! This was a fun one for me. I love reading similar ones from all the bloggers I follow! Wishing you a weekend full of all things delightful.
