Why Jenerally Lemonade?

 

So, if you read my first post, you know WHY I have a heart for getting this blog up and running. However, you might be wondering why does it have the name it does?

I came up with this name over a year ago, and kind of just instantly came to me. A name often embodies personality, what to expect, and the overall aesthetic of a blog. When I thought of JenerallyLemonade, I thought it applied to my visions for these perfectly.

The "Jenerally" part of the name is hopefully pretty obvious. It's a play on the word "Generally" matched up with my name Jen or Jennifer. It shows what this blog generally will be...

Lemonade. When I think of lemonade, I think of savoring the sweet that sometimes even comes along with the bitter. It's no secret that I've had lots of bitter in my life, but I try to live my life in a way that I'm still seeking out the joy, or the good, or the positivity, even through the difficult situations. Some people refer to this as making lemonade out of lemons. The best compliment I ever receive is that you would never know what I've been through based on how I live my life. I'm sure not perfect at that, but that's something I do try to be intentional about.

To that end, I also just get excited about decorating with lemons! Our kitchen/dinette has this decorating theme, and it just makes me happy. When I think of lemons, I think of brightness, cheeriness, southern lifestyle, and a preppy style. I adore all that that embodies.

That being said, I'll try to keep the blog that way- an overall cheery place for you to visit each, or most, weekdays. There will be lots of light and frivolous topics, but I also aim to occasionally talk about the tough things- while still keeping a somewhat positive light on it, of course. It's just a place for connection, a place to encourage me to seek out the good, and...just a place of JenerallyLemonade, of course!
